We are looking for a compassionate, resilient, and proactive Homeless Outreach Worker to join our Havant Team. In this vital role, you will be the first point of contact for people experiencing rough sleeping, often responding directly to public alerts and concerns raised through local authority or charity reporting systems.
Key Responsibilities:
·Respond swiftly and professionally to reports of rough sleepers from the public, businesses, and partner agencies.
·Conduct street outreach visits, often early morning or late evening, to engage with individuals in need.
·Build trust and rapport with rough sleepers, carrying out initial assessments of their wellbeing, needs, and eligibility for services.
·Work collaboratively with local services, including housing, health, mental health, and addiction support to connect individuals with appropriate interventions.
·Accurately record interactions and outcomes using case management systems.
·Contribute to reducing rough sleeping in the area through compassionate and effective engagement.
What We’re Looking For:
·Experience working with vulnerable or marginalized groups, especially in a homelessness or outreach context.
·Excellent communication, empathy, and interpersonal skills.
·Ability to work independently, manage a dynamic workload, and remain calm in challenging situations.
·A trauma-informed and person-centered approach.
·Knowledge of local housing systems, welfare rights, and safeguarding is an advantage.
·Having a driving license and access to a car is essential
